This place is fantastic! A hidden gem in a tucked-away location yet right on the main drag of Hood River. Went there for breakfast and had a most delicious egg sandwich on their homemade gluten-free bread. Gluten-free bread is a tough one -- unfortunately often literally. Theirs was delicious and the best I've ever had. My friends who were lucky enough to have their sandwiches on the homemade english muffins raved about them as well. All was top-notch, with the friendly owners serving and preparing everything. My friends go there for lunch and highly recommend it. We almost went back for lunch the same day we were there for breakfast. It's that good!

Every single sandwich I've had at River Daze has been sublime. I usually order the special of the day, figuring it might be more in season and they have tested out the flavor combinations. I have loved every one of them. They also have a varied selection of drinks- kombucha, real sodas, and good beer too. The only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is they can be a bit packed at lunch and don't expedite the order line that effectively. Other than that, it's all good.

Best sandwiches in town! Breakfast or lunch!

I LOVED this place!! I seriously LOVED this place! Went on my last morning in town to get a breakfast sandwich. I was working on an insider tip to get the Veggie and add bacon. I did just that! The veggie comes with egg, cheese (I picked pepper-jack), avocado, tomato and sprouts and a homemade sourdough English muffin. Man, oh man! This was just soooooo good! The homemade English muffin was spectacular and the sandwich was just sooooo good! I really wish I lived close to this place. I'd go there every morning! LOL

Most people give this cafe a high rating for their food. I think the food is good and deserves four stars. The service is also good. The fact that this establishment is called a cafe is where the rating dips in my opinion. The espresso beverages (cappuccino/latte) are not done well. The coffee beans are likely part of the problem. The coffee tastes bitter and the foam is also not executed the way one would expect from a small, private cafe. If you want breakfast sandwiches this place delivers... You may want to get your coffee elsewhere.

This place is awesome! I had a fruit smoothie and iced Americano to start. Then chilled on the sofa in the sun and read the paper. Then my breakfast sandwich came which was delicious! It was toasted with homemade gluten free bread, avocado, sprouts, egg and cheese. So good. I'm glad we stopped here.

Daaaang. This place is really cute and yummy. It's like you know, a cute place- not fancy shmancy or anything. But their food is incredible. I got a ham sandwich on gluten free bread. It had ham, cheese (ugh I can't remember what kind), red onions, tomato, and pickle. I usually am not super into tomatoes or pickles on sandwiches but everything about the sandwich came together perfectly. The pickles were kinda sweet even. The gluten free bread they MAKE THEMSELVES!!! It was very impressive and tasty. It was fresh and didn't crumble apart, it held together the contents of the sandwich like a bread is supposed to- yeah! I also got a gf chocolate chip cookie. It was delicious but quite rich so I still haven't finished it hours later. I've been pecking at it here and there. Still yummy, just gotta go slow. GO THERE! Esp if you're gluten free.

Enjoyed my breakfast. Ordered the hot and bothered breakfast sandwich, which was $6.50. Seemed a little spends, but it was a high quality and tasty breakfast sandwich. Also ordered coffee for $2.50. If you order the coffee to drink inside, you get free refills. Edit: forgot to add that the coffee is from local roaster 10 Speed Coffee.

These ladies make awesome breakfast sandwiches. The English muffins are home made plus an organic egg, cheese with sausage, bacon or ham. The blueberry muffin was one of the best I've ever had. We were their first customers, so it was still warm, moist on the inside with a very generous portion of blueberries and a slight crunch on the outside. Coffee was good as well!

Great sandwich. I was looking at the turkey melt and asked which was the counter ladies fav. She gave a glowing recommendation for the hot pastrami on wheat. It might just be one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Nice job folks. Great food, comfortable place, friendly staff

Was in Hood River for the weekend and came here two days in a row. The food is excellent and they make an effort to source locally. The atmosphere is super comfortable and all the service is great. English muffins are soft and homemade- yummers.

This place rocked!!! Very original and organic felt like home. Don't let the lack of table ervice discourage you. Pastrami sandwich with house made bread was on point and everything was great. The muffin sandwich was awesome. Had a house made pretzel with two mustard sauces to start off. It was authentic Bavarian style and perfect crust. Everything about this place was great. I can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This restaurant was a nice surprise during a recent trip to Hood River. We were looking for something brunchy-lunchy and these guys had great reviews and a convenient location with giant windows to let in the sunshine. First impressions were good. The place is big and airy, with giant windows that open in nice weather. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Smiles and service you don't always see these days. What I really enjoyed was the quality of the food. The menu is full of old standbys, like reuben and tuna sandwiches, but the ingredients were top notch and tasty. All breads and baked goods are made in house. The lox and tuna are Oregon caught and processed, and the sauerkraut was fresh and delicious. I'd go on, but you should just go visit and see what all the fuss if about. :-)

When you get in you order at the front which is nice but they don't seat you and there was no table with four seats, which made for an uncomfortable interaction with shuffling tables once our food finally came out to us. I myself got the bacon waffle which was outstanding, possibly the best waffle I have ever eaten. My mom got the pastrami sandwich, she gave it a 3/5 stars, she said it was good but was missing something, maybe a sauce, maybe a pickle. My dad got the bagel with lox, 4/5 stars. Grandma got the waffle with fruit, very underwhelming compared to the bacon waffle. The ice tea was amazing and the service was fine, beautiful location with large windows, nice choice of sauces on the table. Would recommend.

Very tasty!! My family stopped for some breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. I had the "Plain Jane" and a pretzel, very good! Fast and friendly service. Nice, clean, and comfortable environment. Try it out!

Best sandwichs anywhere, hands down! I had the special, a BLT with heirloom tomatoes and thick, tasty beacon on homemade bread. To die for. Next time I'm in Hood River, I'm heading back to River Daze. The service was quick and everyone very friendly.

Baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, coffee, mimosas, draft beer, lunch sandwiches. We stopped in because it came up, well reviewed on Yelp, as a good place to get coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee was delicious and the breakfast sandwiches were excellent (served on a home made English muffin). Great space. Very open and bright. We were surprised to see that they had mimosas and draft beer (plus bottles and cans in the cooler) as well. They also have waffles, hot and cold lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, and baked goods (we had a delicious almond poppy muffin).

This place makes awesome breakfast sandwiches. There was a line out the front door, so you know it's a gem! Quality organic ingredients.

The bacon waffle was amazing. Boyfriend had the hot and bothered sandwich and said the homemade English muffin was delicious. I would definitely go back

A few friends and I were staying here on vacation and we stopped here for breakfast. The service is wonderful, the staff is super helpful and friendly. I did have to send my food back is wasn't what I order BUT she was more than willing to make it right she even gave me a cookie! So yes the food is delicious and healthy. Love the atmosphere, if your looking for healthy and organic this is the place.

We grabbed a couple sandwiches for the road after crashing in Hood River for the night. Used yelp to find this spot. This place lives up to it's reviews. Got the Italian sandwich it's bleeping delicious. The bread was awesome. My concern is that I won't be able to drive by Hood River without stopping in to get a sandwich!

My wife and I took my mother here for lunch. Great experience! I had the daily sandwich special:bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Served on their homemade wheat bread-Very tasty. My wife had coconut lentil soup. Outstanding! My mother got the bacon waffle. Thank god she offered us each a bite. We'll be back to each have one of our own. Super light and fluffy with tasty chunks of smoky bacon. Mmmmm. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere is outstanding! As others have mentioned, the floor to ceiling windows made it warm, bright and inviting. We will be back. Did I mention the bacon waffles?

Hands down the best English muffin around! I went back for seconds! In addition to the muffin you can tell they care about where they get their food. Everything was very high quality and full of flavor!

My bride and I hosted a casual day-after wedding brunch at River Daze, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Staff were friendly, and set aside the upper seating area for my guests without any hassle. All the sandwiches, particularly the homemade English muffins, got rave reviews from our guests. Good coffee, and a nice space to enjoy it. Recommended for breakfast or lunch!

Tasty generous sandwiches and cookies in Hood River. Atmosphere was casual, friendly, Hood River-funky. Glad we stopped by.

  • Courtney M.

Love the sandwiches here! The ingredients are super fresh, the portions are huge (enough for two meals in my opinion). I hear great things about their breakfast sandwiches as well. They make their own english muffins, which are amazing! The only downside is that the service can be a bit slow, even if they're not very busy. Think up to a 40 minute wait for a sandwich - seems a little ridiculous for not very complicated food, but if you have the time to hang out and wait it's at least worth it for an awesome meal!

  • Anne M.

Food was outstanding. It was hard to decide what to order. Ended up with kale salad, lox, and clam chowder soup. Will definitely go back to try their breakfast sandwiches and waffles with bacon.

Really awesome food, sandwhiches and breakfast sandwhiches. They have a huge offering of gluten-free, and are super accommodating. They use local 10 Speed Coffee as well.

  • Nikkita P.

this cafe uses the local 10 Speed coffee, and it is yummy... In the refrigerated pastry case, you'll find my favorite... coconut Key lime pie. YUM! Even though I'm all grown up now, I still feel guilty about "desert first"... so I love to other the Tuna melt, or a bowl of soup, did I mention they make GREAT soups? I'm convinced you can't go wrong here... no matter what you order... it's gonna taste good.

I agree with the sandwich reviews, i had the trex with sausage and it was very good. But, i also had a latte which was not great. A little burned. My friend had a drip coffee, he said it was pretty good.

Fantastic service, no wait (with both nearby breweries over 30 min wait). Nice beer selections on tap, delicious sandwiches. Friends had the pastrami - highly recommend. Yummy heirloom BLT. Bacon was great, bread nicely toasted. One friend's order was wrong, but quickly made and delivered with a "whoopsie" cookie :) We'll be back!

We stopped here on the way up the mountain. I had the turkey and Brie sandwich with apples which was delish. My teenaged daughter had a very plain turkey and cheddar sandwich which she declared to be nothing less than the best sandwich she'd ever had ... In her life. !! Everything yummy here and homemade. Definitely stop by!

We stopped by on our tour of the gorge and Mt. Hood and couldn't have been more satisfied. We each ordered the half sandwich and it was more than enough. It was delicious and you could tell easily that all of the ingredients were fresh. We would highly recommend this great spot for lunch.

It's not every day that one is greeted with the opportunity to order a "cheese waffle." However, based off of 100% of my cheese waffle experiences (100% of which have come at River Daze), when such an opportunity presents itself, that opportunity should be seized vigorously and with both hands. It's got the right amount of crunch and the right amount of sweet, and the combination of the sourdough and cheddar put it over the top. Top it with bacon and maple syrup that lives up to this New Englander's standard and you've got a great way to start the day. My friends and went back for sandwiches, which were also delicious, yet not at the level of the cheese waffle (but few things are). Cookies were great, and the only disappointment was the chocolate sourdough cupcake. I'll be back for sure.

Relatively Fast, very FRESH, and plentiful... Just wish tables would have been cleaned (2pm on a Wed) and that they would not have been out of some ingredients causing us to have to change our order.

The River Daze presents perfectly prepared food in a cozy setting. They bake their own sandwich rolls, even the English Muffins. Everything is fresh and the desserts are worth a special trip. Friday features clam chowder which will elicit an involuntary "Damn"! Beers, coffee, and various other beverages. Friendly staff and fantastic food!
